Prof Gabrielsson has mainly worked to understand how exosomes/EVs affect immune responses. Dr. Gabrielsson has described immune regulatory effects of EVs in body fluids, and was the first to describe the presence of exosomes in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and in breast milk. Her work has revealed that exosomes are major players in lung diseases such as asthma and sarcoidosis. In animal models she is studying the immune response to dendritic cell derived exosomes, in order to develop exosome based immunotherapies for cancer.
